Katy Perry was born with name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson on October 25, 1984 in Santa Barbara, California. Katy is an American singer, songwriter and actress. She raised by Christian pastor parents, Perry grew up listening to only gospel music and sang in her local church as a child. After earning a GED during her first year of high school, she began to pursue a career in music.
As Katy Hudson, she released a self-titled gospel album in 2001, which was unsuccessful. She later recorded an album with production team The Matrix
and completed the majority of a solo album from 2004–05, the latter of
which was never released. Perry is the first female artist to get five
hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in one year.
Throughout her careers, She has received 60 awards from 218 nominations, including 1 Brit Awards, 1 Echo Awards, 1 MTV Video Music Awards Japan, 2 Los Premios MTV Latinoamérica, 2 MTV Europe Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, 3 People's Choice Awards, 4 Teen Choice Awards, 6 ASCAP Pop Music Awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards, 1 BMI Awards, 1 Juno Awards and six nominations to the Grammy Awards.
